It's not always that flashy

Occasionally, science is as impressive looking as the movies always tell us it is, and our aquarium fills up with things like this:

The Flying Spagettie Monster would be proud.
But it's not always so . . . tubey. What's our prefered method for testing the strength of a strand of kelp? Some fancy puller device, a denisty-measuring probe of some kind?

Nope. Just a scale clamped to the ceiling, and a tray with some dive weights in it.
